AllStar Weekend

January 27-29, Ottawa was filled with excitement and some of the NHLs finest! The buzz around town was hockey hockey hockey and we couldn't get enough. My brother (Phil) and I were invited to the Governor General's residence for the launch of the HEROS program which is coming to Ottawa this year. The Hockey Education Reaching Out Society is a registered Canadian charitable organization committed to empowering children through ice hockey. The premise of H.E.R.O.S. is to use the game of hockey as a catalyst to attract youth to a program offering support for education self-esteem building and life skills training. The program focuses on boys and girls of diverse ethnicity from economically challenged neighborhoods. The program will be conducted in an environment of fun and safety where each child is considered to be a HERO. It was hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos, and he did an amazing job! All in all, it was a great day filled with some great inspiration!
